My Style Speed Dial

My Style SpeedDial:

1. Why is Fashion from the 80's and 90's making a comeback?

As far as my knowledge is concerned, Fashion during that time was not common with the mass. During that era, there was a sense of originality and creativity which has lead to a big comeback of these trends in the twenty-first century! Today, I see Gen-Y adding a vintage essence to their style.

2. What is the need to spend thousands on a Designer's creation?

I second the fact that Designer Wear is expensive. An individual is NOT paying for the label or even the status symbol associated with the Designer creation. An individual is investing on the Creativity, Time and Effort infused by the designer in creating the state of art. I strongly believe and very much aware that a Designer spends immense amount of time in having discussions with its esteemed team; executing their ideas by means of drawings, sketches, team discussions, and segment marketing. To substantiate my thesis, I would like to re-quote Stella McCartney,

" I literally have meetings at 8'o clock in the morning, and I finish at nine o'clock at night! It sounds pathetic, but I don't even have the time to go shopping."

To further substantiate, doesn't a student put in hours of effort to reap great grades? Thus, one must be guilt-free. J

3. Do I have to compromise on my sense of Style if I fall short of financial resources in an attempt to be a Fashion Diva?

Absolutely not!

You can definitely sport your favourite pink tee with a pair of white jeans on a casual day out; and that same pink tee can be teamed with a nice scarf around your neck with smart formal black pants and the right pair of footwear for a formal event? Going for some nice fit black jeans for any occasion creates the magic. Black, red, white and blue are a few colours that can be worn anytime and anywhere notwithstanding the purpose.

4. Why is there such a debate about carrying the " Right Bag?"

Owing to the fact that your bag has the potential to completely enhance your look or make you look like a complete blunder! And, yes, at some instances you can completely do without one. :')

My say, " A silver bag is the best buy if you don't want to fall prey to the "Bag Drama." On the contrary, do not team it up with a gold or a yellow outfit. You don't want to be looking like a total Faux Paux!

5. What variety can you have in Men's Fashion?

A much expected question. Loafers, checked three-fourth shorts and a V-neck tee for a lazy Sunday Brunch or a day out with friends. A smarter pick than the usual V-neck tees and blue denims!
Besides, the emergence of surfs, skates, polos, dessert shoes! A reason to play with style.

6. Which are the ultimate iconic bags and what makes them so iconic?

Birkin and Kelly both by Hermes’, Lady Dior by Dior, Riley by Jimmy Choo, Bucket Bag by Mansur Gavriel, Tussle fringe by Gucci, Saffino by Prada Baguette by Fendi, LV Vernis and Classic Veneta by Bottega Veneta.

The Birkin and the Kelly personify elegance and adds confidence to the beholder’s personality.

Lady Dior is simply perfect for any kind of outfit and an all time favourite.

Riley is the best travel companion. Tussle fringe is for the explorers. The Saffino is preferred for business meetings where as the Baguette your best friend for an evening outing. As the name suggests the classic Veneta adds grace and simplicity to one’s look.

7. When is the best time to stock up my wardrobe?

Major sales are held only twice a year and every chain store’s favourite months are December and July. December, mainly because its season time and must haves are available at a gettable price. During December, its ideal to get yourself a great sweater/knitwear to complete your evening look for a movie or dinner. Besides, getting those shoes which you’ve always lusted for. It is highly recommended to get yourself some nudes, a piece of clothing in cream, some swimwear for summer being round the corner. It wouldn’t be recommended to update your winter collection as summer would be round the corner plus investing for the forthcoming winter season would be a dead investment. Instead, opt for some tops and dresses for the extra mileage to play with your collection. In July, stock up your winter collection, get some exclusive outfits for travel and you’re set.
