My Style Speed Dial

My Style SpeedDial:

1. Why is Fashion from the 80's and 90's making a comeback?

As far as my knowledge is concerned, Fashion during that time was not common with the mass. During that era, there was a sense of originality and creativity which has lead to a big comeback of these trends in the twenty-first century! Today, I see Gen-Y adding a vintage essence to their style.

2. What is the need to spend thousands on a Designer's creation?

I second the fact that Designer Wear is expensive. An individual is NOT paying for the label or even the status symbol associated with the Designer creation. An individual is investing on the Creativity, Time and Effort infused by the designer in creating the state of art. I strongly believe and very much aware that a Designer spends immense amount of time in having discussions with its esteemed team; executing their ideas by means of drawings, sketches, team discussions, and segment marketing. To substantiate my thesis, I would like to re-quote Stella McCartney,

" I literally have meetings at 8'o clock in the morning, and I finish at nine o'clock at night! It sounds pathetic, but I don't even have the time to go shopping."

To further substantiate, doesn't a student put in hours of effort to reap great grades? Thus, one must be guilt-free. J

3. Do I have to compromise on my sense of Style if I fall short of financial resources in an attempt to be a Fashion Diva?

Absolutely not!

You can definitely sport your favourite pink tee with a pair of white jeans on a casual day out; and that same pink tee can be teamed with a nice scarf around your neck with smart formal black pants and the right pair of footwear for a formal event? Going for some nice fit black jeans for any occasion creates the magic. Black, red, white and blue are a few colours that can be worn anytime and anywhere notwithstanding the purpose.

4. Why is there such a debate about carrying the " Right Bag?"

Owing to the fact that your bag has the potential to completely enhance your look or make you look like a complete blunder! And, yes, at some instances you can completely do without one. :')

My say, " A silver bag is the best buy if you don't want to fall prey to the "Bag Drama." On the contrary, do not team it up with a gold or a yellow outfit. You don't want to be looking like a total Faux Paux!

5. What variety can you have in Men's Fashion?

A much expected question. Loafers, checked three-fourth shorts and a V-neck tee for a lazy Sunday Brunch or a day out with friends. A smarter pick than the usual V-neck tees and blue denims!
Besides, the emergence of surfs, skates, polos, dessert shoes! A reason to play with style.

6. Which are the ultimate iconic bags and what makes them so iconic?

Birkin and Kelly both by Hermes’, Lady Dior by Dior, Riley by Jimmy Choo, Bucket Bag by Mansur Gavriel, Tussle fringe by Gucci, Saffino by Prada Baguette by Fendi, LV Vernis and Classic Veneta by Bottega Veneta.

The Birkin and the Kelly personify elegance and adds confidence to the beholder’s personality.

Lady Dior is simply perfect for any kind of outfit and an all time favourite.

Riley is the best travel companion. Tussle fringe is for the explorers. The Saffino is preferred for business meetings where as the Baguette your best friend for an evening outing. As the name suggests the classic Veneta adds grace and simplicity to one’s look.

7. When is the best time to stock up my wardrobe?

Major sales are held only twice a year and every chain store’s favourite months are December and July. December, mainly because its season time and must haves are available at a gettable price. During December, its ideal to get yourself a great sweater/knitwear to complete your evening look for a movie or dinner. Besides, getting those shoes which you’ve always lusted for. It is highly recommended to get yourself some nudes, a piece of clothing in cream, some swimwear for summer being round the corner. It wouldn’t be recommended to update your winter collection as summer would be round the corner plus investing for the forthcoming winter season would be a dead investment. Instead, opt for some tops and dresses for the extra mileage to play with your collection. In July, stock up your winter collection, get some exclusive outfits for travel and you’re set.

MY ZODIAC BAG WORLD!!

MY ZODIAC BAG WORLD!! <3

Its a “Big Bag” world out there! Internet advertisements, SMS alerts, Promo codes, hoardings, newspapers, mobile applications and yes, window shopping. The “Bag Catastrophe” may not seize, at all.

The ultimatum that will fit seamlessly into your wardrobe can be arduous but worthwhile. The gamut of totes, slings, hobos, clutches, baguettes and satchels in one’s wardrobe may be enterprising, but there will be that one ultimatum to look for. Looking for that matchless bag by checking your zodiac may be quite simpler if not the simplest. ;)

ARIES: A born explorer ready to introduce new trends and ideas! Exuding confidence, making a statement and a long lasting impression is effortless for an Aries. A fiery red shoulder bag with a few hints of fringe can do wonders. The baby of all zodiac signs will bask in a sea of praises. The bag in question would not only enhance their look but also make way for positive energy owing to Mars being its ruling planet.

TAURUS: With the hidden artistic side in practically every Taurean, they are sure to pave way for some feminine colours like peach, pink and/or lemon. Not to for get, a Taurean will go for bag(s) with a soft, luxurious and floral aura. A quality made bag coordinating with every single outfit will complete their look. Opting for a soft peach or lemon will be an extension of their personality.

GEMINI: Communicative, adaptable and unpredictable! A Gemini will experiment with their bags on a constant basis. Being one of the most stylish in the zodiac is a boon, opting for a bag with edgy studs or any other embellishment(s) will be an eye grabber in any kind of look. Be sure to let accessories that are in sync with the embellishments get noticed. Green coloured bags would favour a Gemini.

CANCER: There’s got to be a classic and fairly glossy nude sling in a Cancer’s wardrobe. Such a bag would undoubtedly personify their subtle and calm personality. Bags which are cream, off white and beige too go well with a Cancerian’s disposition. Soft nets and laces as a backdrop go great for a Cancer.

LEO: Starry airs coupled with regal tastes! Leo will not let anyone upstage them. They are very likely to go for a very flashy and eye-catching piece. A neon baguette would be a sure pick. Bright enough to pamper their style sense and highly unlikely to be away from the limelight. Grab the limelight, have an air of royalty and there you are!

VIRGO: Virgo, you will always have that signature piece going with the prim and pro-pah’! They believe in having the perfect look. Ideally, a Virgo’s signature bag should be a caramel coloured tote which will not only be gracefully carried by them but is also going to grab eyeballs. They are by far, the tote queens of the Zodiac. A brown coloured tote fawns a special place in a Virgo’s wardrobe.

LIBRA: An elegant electric blue satchel will be its favourite all weather companion. Going for a brunch, attending social events or even paying a visit to an art gallery. A Libra will always zero in on a bag that has withstood the trends and will judiciously invest in a noir version. Their choice in bags will attract masses to take a Libra’s advice in terms of style, colours and trends. Look out for this one!

SCORPIO:  A classy and out of the world black bag is a strong advocate for a Scorpio. They infuse life even into the deepest shades of red! Besides, the black bag is a multipurpose bag. Smoldering eye make up or smokey eyes will give them the perfect look. Above all, black is never boring for Scorpio’s signature style. ;)

SAGITTARIUS: A quirky but colourful shade of bag, preferably, a shoulder bag will be handpicked by a Sagi in order to keep pace with their creative side and adventurous pursuits. Their unflinching love for travelling will fetch them the apt bag enough for their essentials. A very wise bag shopper, indeed. Kudos to a Sagi’s practicality.

CAPRICORN: Sophistication is in their genes. Not to mention, their ability to not fuss over labels and yet, it looks like a customized designer handbag is a Capricorn’s beauty. A bucket bag equipped with a plush interior equals a smart pick and a must have for every Bagista. Way to go!!

AQUARIUS: Aquarius, you have a karmic connection with “The Bag!”  They create trends, styles and yes, BAGS. With an extremely versatile bag personality, an Aquarius can carry anything from a duffel to a clutch with sheer elan. Look out for this Walking Bag Bible. ;)

PISCES: Also known as the romantic charmer of the Zodiac, a Piscean will attract subtle shades, more of blues, pastels and green. A free spirited bag empowered by texture, creativity and feminity. In addition, whites will also favour a Piscean. Swim that aqua blue shimmery envelope clutch into your wardrobe. J

Be a Bagista! ;)

High Street Labels!

High Street Labels!

Much ado about Zara, Mango, H&M and Bebe -  the stalwarts of high street wear.  With so many new options on the block- yet, nothing can seem to replace the brand loyalty towards the above.

Here is the catch- what to opt for from each high street label.  Iconic gold zippers, uber chic summer dresses, 9 to 5 ballerinas and layered dresses - high street labels are quite distinctive.
How would you know the right brand for each item of clothing- be it choosing Mango's high waist denims to TRF's casual jeans.

Zara has an array of denims from skinny jeans to ombre and shimmer pants. Besides, what can stop one from flaunting those versatile bottoms. ;) Mango is more into chic dresses yet sometimes, those cute tops and bottoms emerge as the season’s favourite! Here’s an input- couple those Zara bottoms with a Mango top but keep the shoes in mind!!

H&M and Bebe? If you’re heading for a casual outing- movie/ lunch/shopping then opt for H&M shoes- they seem to the pick for casual outings. Bebe is all about sophistication and has mastered the art of personifying dresses. How about Bebe for a stylish outing- dinner/ party/ business related event...

The Mango-Bebe dress dilemma! As mentioned earlier, opt for a Mango dress for a casual outing or during Summer and Bebe for a formal/grand outing. In addition, if you need a floral dress- Mango, undoubtedly. :)

There’s been a heated discussion between Zara and H&M ballerinas considering the versatility of these labels. For pastels and blacks its gotta be Zara and for girly colours and nudes go for H&M.

Slings seem to be the new favourite among many but, nothing can beat Bebe! The “Quilted tote bag” by Mango, a rather obvious pick has taken the fashion market by a storm since the past few months. Go for those iconic rectangular handbags by Zara, a favourite among most high street shoppers. :)

Happy Shopping! J
